This year, I registered for the Komen Race for the Cure because I want to make an impact in the fight against breast cancer. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.
You can donate online with your credit card by clicking the button above my fundraising thermometer.
I turned 50 in early Feruary. On Valentines day I was diagnosed with breast cancer. My mother, grand mother and great grand mother all died from breast cancer in their early 50's and 60's. I chose a mastectomy so that I wouldn't have to have radiation and chemo. It was a very difficult choice to make, but one I don't regret.
I have been a part of many organizations that raise money to fight cancer. I have benefited from the research and treatments available. My treatment was tailored to my specific cancer. I am now on Tamoxifen for the next 5 years to prevent the cancer from coming back.
My cancer was detected early due to Mammography! Get your mammograms ladies!!!
In addition to cancer, I have Multiple Sclerosis. This made it harder for me to recover and it affected my decision to have reconstruction surgery. My body cannot handle the implant nor all the surgeries to reconstruct.
